The Pavilion, Haringey 6th Form College

The Pavilion is a single storey L-shaped building clad in Larch timber boards, housing two classrooms and four tutorial rooms and are accessed from a central reception area.

Haringey 6th Form College will use this new facility for their vocational course in horticulture. Each classroom has a bi-fold door, which opens directly onto the garden area where the students can make use of several raised beds.

The building has been designed to have minimal energy use with air source heat pumps and solar panels.

The main pitched roofs are areas of extensive living roof planted with native species wildflowers and herbs. Invertebrate habitat structures provide a variation of habitat for native wildlife, and the substrate supports the water retention on site during rainfall.

As a result, the new building will have a limited impact on the ecology of the site and reaches a ‘zero carbon’ performance standard.
