Tooley Foster were commissioned by the London Borough of Redbridge to design a new four-court Sports Hall, teaching area, viewing gallery and a weight training room, including all ancillary accommodation. The scheme also includes new wet changing facilities for the existing swimming pool.
The sports facility together with the existing swimming pool are intended to be accessible to the local community and have been designed in co-operation with Sport England and the New Opportunities Fund.
The scheme is a mixture of single and 2-storey; constructed traditionally with a brick external skin and a blockwork inner one – fair faced in the Sports Hall. There are external wall features of render and timber cladding panels and a curved metal roof with integral insulation.
