Maylands Court

Tooley Foster, together with the team of consultants, were appointed by Hightown Housing Association and Jarvis to design a high quality mixed-use development

In the heart of Maylands the site is directly opposite Hightown’s offices on the west side of Maylands Avenue. The original ‘vision’ for the site was set-out by the Council in their masterplan of 2007. The important junction at the crossroads north of the site was ideally suited for a landmark statement with active street frontage of retail outlets leading to a public square, which is between two blocks purposefully designed to look different using similar pallet of external materials.

130 new homes have been created, 77 for social rent and 53 as shared ownership, flexible in design to encourage people to stay rooted in the area.

The ground storey in the northern block provides retail accommodation that includes Sainsburys Local, Greggs and Starbucks, whilst the majority of the ground floor and part of the first floor in the southern block will be a community facility taken up by Adeyfield Free Church, including a café, pre-school facility and meeting rooms for various activity groups.

We were appointed by Design & Build contractors to compete for working drawings and the project is now completed and occupied.
