Maylands Court, (Phase II)

Following completion of Phase 1 in 2017, Tooley Foster continued to work closely with Hightown Housing Association to design and develop Phase II, achieving a further 157 flats and houses. This completed the Maylands Business Park regeneration scheme by Dacorum Borough Council.

This scheme comprises four main elements, the first of which is a series of twenty-six 2 and 3-bedroom terrace houses to the eastern side. The centre of the site is flanked by two courtyard blocks that vary between 3 and 5-storeys in height. A 9-storey tower sits between the two courtyard blocks, closing off the existing public square to the west and creating a new landscaped public square to the east.

It is surrounded by ground floor shops, commercial spaces and residential apartments above. In contrast to the brickwork of the other three blocks, the tower is finished with glazed brickwork, cladding and render, forming a focal point and heart of the development.

The proposed site layout and contemporary design of the new buildings were well received at the council’s design review panel. The development is Hightown’s flagship scheme, proudly displaying a positive contribution to the local area and its sense of place, whilst providing much needed new housing.
