A new 70-bedroom residential Care Home for elderly residents suffering from dementia, and 18-bedroom staff accommodation, has been designed to replace an existing smaller Care Home.
The site overlooks one of the most beautiful parts of the South Downs, which has been classified as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The natural slope of the site is used to its full potential to maximise the development area. We have used the slope to create a building of much larger mass than the existing, yet proved that it has a reduced visual impact on the wider landscape.
The woodland setting has been used to articulate the elevations and produce an architecture which will embed the building within the landscape. The extensive green roofs will be fully landscaped and useable as terraces, which will benefit from the views of the South Downs.
