63 bed ward block as a linked extension to the new Emergency Department.
The new clinical ward accommodation was designed to cope with the changes in patient demographics and influence of a merger with Ealing Hospital. The new ward block provided a state-of-the-art working environment for staff and an enhanced experience for patients. It has two floors of acute ward accommodation, with a top floor of 15 Isolation Rooms designed to deal with Infectious Diseases.
The building achieved a BREEAM ‘very Good’ rating including photovoltaics covering the whole roof. The fast-track modular construction system used to build the 4 storey, 3900 sq. m ward was completed in 12 months.
