In a summer that has seen record breaking temperature rises across the UK, Tooley Foster highlight the economic case for Passivhaus construction.
The whole life cost broke even after 14 years and we're 10% lower over 25 years…
This is just one of the revealing passages taken from Reducing the cost of healthcare buildings with Passivhaus, a new document from Tooley Foster that compares real life construction cost and energy usage data, with projections for the same buildings constructed to a Passivhaus standard.
As well as a summary of the research, you will find an easy-to-follow guide to Passivhaus and the principles that make it such an important tool in the fight against climate change. Read more about our experience in Passivhaus design here.

Another organisation that has incorporated low energy, Passivhaus principles into their strategy is The London Borough of Newham. Tooley Foster are providing Passivhaus design services including the working drawings and the technical consultation for new projects across the borough.
The developments will provide over 100 energy efficient homes across four sites, helping to keep bills down and ensuring high quality and healthy living environments for residents in the borough. The first two developments in Sutton Road and Leather Lane are due for completion by summer 2023.
Additional Passivhaus projects include the design of three new houses for the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust as well as continued Passivhaus consultancy services on smaller developments and family homes throughout the UK.
The new Foleshill Health Centre is the first Passivhaus building for the NHS. It provides a healthy comfortable interior, with filtered fresh air throughout and with much lower than average running costs. Take a look at its story here
