The Firs

The Firs is a 40-bedroom Care Home for those with dementia was constructed in the garden of a large Victorian House.

The design was carefully integrated into the existing landscaped garden, which contained a large number of mature Yew trees.

As part of the development a number of these trees had to be relocated within the site and the original sunken garden restored.

The 4 x 10-bedroom clusters are provided with large communal areas forming an H-shaped block, which creates a secure courtyard for residents.

Eastlake

Surrey County Council, under a PFI contract, awarded Anchor Trust with the conversion of 15 existing Care Homes and the rebuilding of 9 new Homes.

Eastlake is a 48-bed Care Home replaced a flat roofed 60s scheme, which was of poor quality.

An existing Health Centre had to be demolished to allow the building to fit on the site and the stone from this was re-used in the main entrance.

The 4 clusters of 12 bedrooms wrap around a south facing central courtyard, providing a safe and secure environment for the residents.  All rooms are provided with en-suite facilities.

A 10-person Day Centre is also provided to the rear of the site.

The beeches

Surrey County Council, under a PFI contract, awarded Anchor Trust with the conversion of 15 existing Care Homes and the rebuilding of 9 new Homes.

The Beeches Care Home replaces an old EMI “racetrack type” unit with a 48-bedroom EMI unit with an attached Day Centre for 10 people.

The scheme provides 4 x 12-bedded clusters, with communal facilities around a central courtyard providing a secure environment for the residents.

Each resident has a room in excess of the new care standards and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower facility.

The Beeches site was very heavily wooded and the design reflected the need to retain the trees on the site
