Church Walk

We were delighted to be chosen from an extensive interview list of over 25 design practices to work on the interiors for Central & Cecil’s new 60 bed Extra Care home in Camden / Belsize Park, London.

Working in partnership with Hunters (the architects for the Extra Care building), we have taken their footprint and worked up a scheme for all the communal areas, dining rooms, sitting rooms and show flats.

The client was clear from the offset that they wanted a high-end bespoke design that would reflect that of a 5* hotel.  It would also need to balance with the strong architecture of the building and blend with the surrounding leafy area.  They felt strongly that we should re-use some of the original stone features from the old building which will be demolished to make way for the new Care Home.

With that in mind, we have: designed areas such as the multi-use sitting rooms that resemble hotel lounges; created an open plan café style foyer with elaborate feature ceilings to add the ‘wow factor’ upon arrival; and re-used the original stone window surrounds to form stained glass light boxes in the ‘snugs’ at the end of each corridor.

The client is extremely happy with our design proposals and the scheme is currently in for planning approval.

Forest School

Forest school commissioned us to build a new 3 storey building and refurbishment of the theatre foyer as well as other rooms.

Following an earlier planning permission, the new 3-storey building backs on to the existing theatre, located on a piece of land formerly partly occupied by an art room and study rooms.

At ground floor level the theatre foyer has been extended and fully refurbished with new ceilings, lighting, floor finishes and stair balustrades. Leading off it are the back stage facilities for the theatre, a drama studio and three large workshops, providing modern CDT facilities for the whole school.

At first floor level there are art rooms, a CDT design office, a TV room and new male and female toilets.

At second floor level there are more art rooms providing a self-contained department also serving the whole school.

The exterior of the existing theatre has been reclad.

An important piece of medieval stained glass belonging to the school has been restored and is now displayed with backlighting in the foyer.

regent gate

Regent Gate is a new office building, replacing one from the 1950s, designed on a sensitive site between two existing buildings with listed façades, on the edge of Regent Street Conservation Area.

Detailed negotiations and meetings were held with the planning and conservation officers who were keen to ensure that certain building lines on the façade were maintained.

The stone façade and details reflect the character of the adjacent properties, while internally, fully air-conditioned, high quality office spaces are provided over 7 floors.

All floors are free of intermediate internal columns providing completely open plan areas.

The double-height reception area provides a prominent entrance to the offices whilst the spectacular 7th floor penthouse meeting room and roof terraces offer excellent facilities for corporate entertainment.
