We have substantial experience in the education sector with design and implementation of educational buildings for public, local authority, grant maintained, voluntary aided and private schools.

In addition, our Senior Associate Keith Varnes is the Chair of Governors of a primary school, which gives us an added insight into what is required when designing for Education.

In most situations, the building work will be happening in a live environment so planning around the school is key to the project's success.

We involve stakeholders, including the children, in the design process, listening carefully to what they have to say and then coming up with new ideas to fit the circumstances.

We always think about flexibility and how the space can be used creatively.

Schools are becoming the centre of their communities and we often have to look at how a new building can be used for different activities.

Our work has included:

  • General teaching areas for all ages
  • Specialist teaching spaces such as science laboratories, CDT workshops and facilities for arts, drama and music
  • Sports halls and swimming pools
  • Dining and kitchen facilities
  • Boarding and nursery accommodation.
