We were delighted to be chosen from an extensive interview list of over 25 design practices to work on the interiors for Central & Cecil’s new 60 bed Extra Care home in Camden / Belsize Park, London.
Working in partnership with Hunters (the architects for the Extra Care building), we have taken their footprint and worked up a scheme for all the communal areas, dining rooms, sitting rooms and show flats.
The client was clear from the offset that they wanted a high-end bespoke design that would reflect that of a 5* hotel. It would also need to balance with the strong architecture of the building and blend with the surrounding leafy area. They felt strongly that we should re-use some of the original stone features from the old building which will be demolished to make way for the new Care Home.
With that in mind, we have: designed areas such as the multi-use sitting rooms that resemble hotel lounges; created an open plan café style foyer with elaborate feature ceilings to add the ‘wow factor’ upon arrival; and re-used the original stone window surrounds to form stained glass light boxes in the ‘snugs’ at the end of each corridor.
The client is extremely happy with our design proposals and the scheme is currently in for planning approval.
