This project was won in a limited competition to develop an existing design. The original scheme was for 5 office buildings with 3 of them being built in the late 70s under a Design & Build contract.
Block 4 on Cambridge Science Park was redesigned to incorporate a central atrium with full air conditioning and raised access floor systems to open plan offices over three floors.
Traditional brick piers were balanced against modern curtain wall panels providing maximum glazing strips, which resulted in good quality natural light in the offices.
Based on the teamwork and success of this project, the client decided to appoint the same team to develop Block 3, the last of the 5 buildings of the original planning application.
