| Our commitment to delivering ‘Environments that work’ includes energy conscious and sustainable design, thought through from first principles. Reducing carbon emissions is fundamental, and we take an eco-minimalist approach that first reduces energy demand through orientation, well detailed insulation, air tightness, thermal mass and good ventilation and then the addition of renewable technologies. Sustainability is more than just energy efficiency and we seek to create built environments where people wish to live, work, learn and play, and which are popular, resource efficient, durable, flexible and inclusive. Our recent RIBA/LSC Further Education Design Excellence Sustainability Award reflects this ethos. Our professional development programme includes updates of sustainable technologies for all technical staff. We have a thorough knowledge of Ecohomes and Code for Sustainable Homes ratings, use Passivhaus software and one of our Associates has completed an MSc in Environmental Design & Engineering at University College London. We are members of The Association for Environment Conscious Building. We have held seminars on Zero Carbon Housing for key clients, including feedback on current low carbon projects. We apply these principles to the design of all our projects, and those below have particular sustainability interest. A SELECTION OF COMPLETED AND CURRENT PROJECTS: • St Mary’s School – Ecological construction. • Vincent House – 20 flats and Mixed Use.
