Mixed Use

Mixed Use schemes provide sustainable developments - often containing speculative office and retail spaces - that meet local planning policy while providing essential housing.

Our designs have helped to develop exciting schemes that are lively and create local communities where people can live, work and relax.

We have worked on a number of Mixed Use developments involving charities or churches with limited funds where value for money is essential.

Such developments will often call for creative solutions to achieve the required funding for the church or charity, which could involve them going into partnership with a residential developer or a housing association.

For example, we worked for London & Quadrant Housing Association on the redevelopment of Springfield Methodist Church in Lambeth, which restored the Edwardian façade to its original splendour, provided 28 affordable homes and thereby financed a new church and community rooms. Other innovative Mixed Use schemes have included:

  • The award-winning Vincent House in Enfield, which includes offices for two charities, a café and affordable housing
  • Downs Road Church complex in Hackney with 11 one and two bedroom flats above
